Westlake Girl Scout Lauryn Wang is in process of trying to earn her Gold Star Award, the highest rank a girl scout can earn. It is similar to a boy scout earning the rank of eagle scout.
As part of her Gold Star Award project, Wang is organizing a charity golf tournament to raise money to help install install a fully functional and accessible indoor putting area at Senior Concerns in Thousand Oaks. The putting green will provide new opportunities for the seniors to be physically and mentally active, and to help them improve focus, balance and hand-eye coordination.
The tournament will be held Aug. 18 at Los Robles Greens Golf Course. Cost is $100 per individual and $375 per foursome.
Wang has been a Girl Scout for seven years and also plays on the Westlake High School girls varsity golf team.
