In preparation for the Ladin Subaru 23rd annual Love Run on Sun., June 5 in Westlake Village, Senior Concerns is seeking volunteer groups from employers, service groups, nonprofits and faith-based organizations to work in a variety of race-day roles.
Volunteer groups can assist with race-day check-in and packet pickup, work as course monitors, staff water stations along the race routes, assist with the race expo or fill other roles.
New this year in the Love Run is a half marathon run on a course that is part street and part trail.
Runners and walkers can also participate in a 10K, 5K or one-mile fun run.
At the finish line expo, vendors will hand out samples and share information with a wellness-centered theme.
More than 2,500 people from the community are expected to attend.
Volunteers will receive front-row spectator seats to the races, a volunteer shirt and a free pancake breakfast.
The annual race supports Senior Concerns’ Meals On Wheels, which provides two freshly prepared meals daily to homebound seniors. In 2015, volunteers delivered almost 30,000 meals in Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park. Funds raised at the Love Run help to provide scholarships to those who cannot afford the program.
