Senior Concerns was recently named 2018 California Nonprofit of the Year by California Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin.
Senior Concerns received a Proclamation which will hang on the wall in our building on Hodencamp Road.
Martha Shapiro, Director of Program Services, Lisa Weaver, Director of Nutrition Services, and Board Member Patricia Jones traveled to Sacramento to join with 100 other nonprofit leaders honored by their state senators and assemblymembers during a celebration luncheon as part of California Nonprofits Day on June 6th.
While in Sacramento staff had the opportunity to spend time with Assemblymember Irwin and share with her the needs of seniors and family caregivers in the community and how Senior Concerns is working to address those need.
“Being able to talk to Assemblymember Irwin about the needs we are seeing was important,” shared Martha Shapiro. “Knowing the challenges her constituents face will help effectively advocate for seniors and family caregivers in the future.”
“We are deeply humbled and honored to be chosen as a Nonprofit of the Year by Assemblyperson Jacqui Irwin,” says Andrea Gallagher, President of Senior Concerns. “This recognition reflects our commitment to serving the needs of a growing population of seniors and family caregivers in our community.”
