As part of its Share the Love Campaign, Ladin Subaru is partnering with Senior Concerns to hold a holiday gift drive on Monday, December 9, 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Ladin Subaru, 3725 Auto Mall Drive in Thousand Oaks. The community is invited to drop off small gifts that will be delivered to homebound seniors during the holiday season through Senior Concerns’ Meals On Wheels Program.

Among the items being requested for Senior Concerns’ Meals On Wheels recipients are personal flashlights, slipper socks with grippers for men and women, pens and spiral bound notebooks, hand towels and washcloths, scares, and new toothbrushes and toothpaste.

This is the 7th consecutive year Ladin Subaru has partnered with Senior Concerns on the Share the Love Campaign. During the campaign period, which begins in November of each year, Subaru customers have the opportunity to select a charity to which a donation of $250 from every vehicle sale will be donated. Along with a select group of national charities, local Subaru dealers select one community-based non-profit to support.

Since 1975, Senior Concerns’ Meals On Wheels Program has addressed the challenge of food insecurity among homebound seniors in Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park. Food insecurity (limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe food, or limited and uncertain ability to acquire acceptable foods) happens because of low income, physical constraints, lack of transportation, reduced availability of food, lack of socialization, and reduced food intake due to taste (taste buds decline with age; medications may alter appetites.) Senior Concerns’ delivers Meals On Wheels 364 days per year.

“We value and appreciate our community partners, such as the team at Ladin Subaru, and thank them for their support of Senior Concerns’ Meals On Wheels Program,” said Andrea Gallagher, CSA, President of Senior Concerns.
