Senior Concerns, in partnership with the Goebel Adult Community Center, will present a free seminar titled “The DMV, Seniors and Safety” on Tuesday, August 2 at 11:00 a.m. This seminar will be held at the Goebel Adult Community Center, 1385 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.
Seminar attendees will learn about driver license renewal requirements, testing options, including a touch screen option and on-line testing, vision requirements and when a drive test is required, study tips for renewal testing, free Senior ID cards that are available for those who are no longer driving, the Real ID including when it will be required and what documents you will need, as well as the physical/mental health standards needed for safe driving and the process if you are referred to the DMV’s Driver Safety.
The seminar will be presented by Tressa Thompson, Senior Ombudsman with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Tressa has been with the California Department of Motor Vehicles for 25 years. In her current position as Senior Driver Ombudsman she is involved in public outreach with senior organizations to ensure this demographic has correct information regarding DMV and safety. She covers Los Angeles County and Central Coast Counties wherein she frequently has contact with senior centers and senior communities.
